Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about OnChain Music
Customer Questions
What's the difference between a subscription and a single use license?
Our subscriptions cover using the music on the internet, blockchain, the metaverse, and podcasts. Broadcast is only covered under our "Business" subscription. However, broadcast does not include advertising or theatrical trailers. These uses need a single use license.
Can I use the same song multiple times during my subscription?
Yes. As long as you upload the song while you are subscribed to OnChain Music, then you can use the song in multiple videos.
Can I upload videos with your music after my subscription ends?
No. You must upload your videos during your subscription period. If you uploaded music before your subscription ended, those videos will not receive a copyright claim once your subscription has ended.
What happens if I get a copyright claim on my YouTube channel?
This happens if you do not add your channel to the AllowList.
Steps to add URL to the AllowList:
Go to the License Management page. Search for your channel name, and select the channel you want. Click on "Clear Channel." That's it! Now you can upload any song from OnChain Music and will not get a copyright infringement.

What is your cancellation policy?
Refunds are only available to people who sign up and don't use any of our services during the first month of activation. Annual refunds are not available on a prorated basis.
Will I get a copy of the license agreement when I use songs or get a single use license?
No. The terms and conditions serve as the agreement between both parties. If you do not agree to our terms and conditions, then you will not have access to our products and services.
Can I use the stems and alt mixes to create an original piece of music?
No. The music on our site cannot be used as samples, loops, or stems for new music. This is a violation of our terms and conditions.
Artist Questions
How much does it cost?
There isn't any upfront fee for us to distribute your music. We simply retain a percentage of gross revenue earned. For blockchain distribution you retain 85% and for DSPs, you retain 90%. On all synchronization fees, you will collect 50%.
What does OnChain Music do?
We offer 5 main services for Artists and Labels:
1) Music distribution to blockchain related music platforms, such as Audius and Aurovine.
2) Music distribution to traditional DSPs, like Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, and more.
3) A licensing platform which allows our customers to license your music for use on YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitch.
4) Content ID Monitoring on YouTube. When your music is illegally uploaded, this will trigger ads to run on the video, which we collect and remit 50% to you.
5) We mint NFTs and list them for sale on OpenSea.

I am a publisher or record label. Can you represent our catalog?
Yes. Please sign up, or contact us to get started.
When will I get paid?
We collect all of the revenue, and then distribute your earnings every month. If your balance is over $25, you will be paid in either fiat (USD, Euro, etc.) or cryptocurrency. It's up to you. In the future, we hope to set up micro payments so you will be paid daily.
What genres are you accepting?
We are open to all styles of music. However, initially, we want to release Artist driven music, such as bands, singer songwriters, and Artists.
I don't have a PRO (Performing Rights Organization). Will that be a problem?
No, you do not need to be affiliated with a PRO. (For those of you unfamiliar, examples of PROs are ASCAP, BMI, PRS, GEMA...)
Does OnChain Music promote my music?
We will do what we can to get the word out, but as an Artist or Record Label, it's important to continue engaging with and building your audience.

How do I earn money?
Each time someone streams or downloads your music from one of the blockchain music platforms, you will earn cryptocurrency. These tokens will remain in your wallet until the value reaches at least $25, and then we will either transfer the tokens to you, or pay you in fiat (USD, Euro, etc.).
Will I be able to see my statements, or analytics?
We will collect as much information about your streams and share this data with you. Currently, there isn't a way for you to log in directly to see your statements. We believe in 100% transparency, so you'll see what we see.
Can I transfer my tokens to other people?
This might be a feature we enable in the future.
Token Questions
What is the $MUSIC token?
The OnChain Music token is a hybrid cryptocurrency combining characteristics of being a utility, governance, and revenue share token. People who either hold or stake will have access to our revenue share program, voting, snapshots, airdrops, NFTs, and more. If you are an Artist that is signed to our roster, you also have the potential of increased royalty payouts. We are not doing an ICO, or pre-sale. The $MUSIC token does not inherently have any value and will be used as a utility and governance token. Please do your own research prior to making any investments.
NFTs
What are NFTs?
NFTs are Non-Fungible Tokens. Essentially, they are digital collectible items that can be traded on the blockchain. Artists are using NFTs to sell unique songs, artwork, and even exclusive access to backstage.
